Description

Fire Retardant Synthetic Fabric for Weed Control, Ground Covering, Wall Coverings, Stage Backdrops, Displays & Partitions

Fire Retardant Synthetic Fabric is a lightweight, durable nonwoven material designed for weed control, ground covering, wall coverings, stage backdrops, exhibition displays, partitions, ceilings, lightweight curtains and a wide range of commercial, domestic and technical applications. Made from 100% polypropylene, it provides a practical and cost-effective solution for projects requiring a versatile synthetic textile with added fire-retardant performance. Supplied in a generous 150cm width and available by the metre, it is suitable for everything from landscaping and ground-cover applications to larger commercial installations.

The fabric is tested to BS 5852: Part 1 (1979), providing recognised fire-performance testing for applications where additional safety is important. For landscaping and outdoor ground-cover projects, it can be installed beneath gravel, paths and suitable open-ground areas to suppress weed growth and help reduce the build-up of dry vegetation that may otherwise contribute combustible material. Its lightweight nonwoven construction also makes it easy to cut, position and install for events, education, construction, furniture, agriculture, filtration and general-purpose applications.

FAQs

What is Fire Retardant Synthetic Fabric?
It is a lightweight nonwoven spunbond fabric made from 100% polypropylene and manufactured with added fire-retardant performance.

What fire standard does this fabric meet?
The fabric is tested to BS 5852: Part 1 (1979), a recognised British standard relating to the ignitability of upholstered seating composites.

Can this fabric be used for weed control?
Yes, it can be installed as a ground-cover membrane to help suppress weed growth in suitable garden, landscaping and agricultural applications.

Can I lay it beneath gravel and paths?
Yes, it can be positioned beneath gravel, decorative stone and suitable pathways to help block light from reaching the soil and reduce weed growth.

How can it help reduce dry vegetation build-up?
By suppressing weed growth beneath covered areas, the fabric can help reduce the amount of unwanted vegetation that may later dry out and accumulate as combustible material.

Does this fabric prevent fires from spreading?
The fabric is fire retardant, but it should not be treated as a complete fire barrier or guaranteed method of stopping fire spread. Its role in landscaping is primarily to suppress vegetation while providing a fire-retardant synthetic ground-cover option.

Can it be used for stage and theatre backdrops?
Yes, its lightweight construction and fire-retardant properties make it suitable for stage sets, theatre backdrops, event displays and exhibition installations.

Is this fabric suitable for wall coverings and partitions?
Yes, it can be used for decorative wall coverings, temporary partitions, ceiling treatments and lightweight interior installations.

Can it be used in schools and public spaces?
Yes, it is suitable for selected educational, exhibition and public-space applications where a lightweight fire-retardant fabric is required, subject to the specific regulations of the installation.

Can this fabric be used outdoors?
It can be used for selected outdoor and agricultural applications, particularly as ground covering and weed control. Suitability for prolonged weather exposure should be assessed for the intended installation.

Is this fabric suitable for upholstery?
It can be used for selected upholstery backing and furniture-related applications. Where it forms part of seating, the complete upholstery composite should meet the fire-performance requirements of the intended use.

Is the fabric easy to cut and install?
Yes, its lightweight nonwoven construction makes it straightforward to cut, position and handle for landscaping, displays, coverings and temporary installations.

How wide is the fabric?
The fabric is supplied in a generous 150cm width, making it suitable for ground covering, backdrops, displays, wall coverings, partitions and larger technical projects.
